It’s a luxury not all of us are blessed with, yet, for all but one of the wealthiest tech giants, their net worth increased significantly in 2019, according to business insider. The exception? Jeff Bezos, due to his record divorce settlement. Despite the hit to his wealth, he still remains the world’s richest person.
Tech giants are getting richer BIG TIME, yet, the amount they give to charity doesn’t even keep up with the appreciation of their net worths. Some examples include:
- Mark Zuckerberg wealth increased with 40% in 2019.
- Recently deceased co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, has seen his net worth increase from $13.5 billion in 2010 billion to $20 billion today, despite giving away $2 billion to charity over his lifetime.
- Big time philanthropist Bill Gates, who gives away about $5 billion in grants EVERY YEAR, has seen his net worth increase by $18 billion in 2019.
While the 50 richest families gave away $7.8 billion in disclosed donations in 2018, this was about half compared to 2017, when the top megadoners gave away $14.7 billion to nonprofits. Who would have though that giving away money could be so difficult?
